בפעם הראשונה נערך באדיס אבבה בירת אתיופיה  - טקס יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה בשגרירות הישראלית במעמד השר במשרד ראש הממשלה, חה"כ איוב קרא.

לעולם א עוד! - השר קרא אמר באירוע ש"השואה היא הדבר הכי נורא שחווה העם היהודי והאנושות בכלל, ואסור שזה יקרה שוב - לא לעם היהודי קודם כל ולעולם בכלל." השר איוב קרא הוסיף  ואמר ש"הבשורה הטובה שקיבלתי ביום עצוב זה שהליך עליית יהודי הפלשמורה סוף סוף החל באדיס אבבה.

קליטת עולים מכל מדינה הוא הדבר הכי חשוב לחוסנה, ביטחונה ועתידה של ישראל." השר קרא סיים את דבריו באזכור משפחת גולד, רוזה וארנסט, ניצולי שואה שהיו לו כהורים מאמצים בעברו, שהשפיעו עמוקות על קידומו והצלחתו.
